11 Nov Meditation + Talk: Confidence – The Power of Bodhicitta
This Wednesday Night Meditation included a 37-minute meditation and 43-minute talk and discussion on “Confidence: The Power of Bodhicitta,” with guest teacher Kaira Jewel Lingo.
Kaira is a Dharma teacher who has a life-long interest in blending spirituality and meditation with social justice. At the age of twenty-five, she entered a Buddhist monastery in the Plum Village tradition and spent fifteen years living as a nun under the guidance of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. She received the lamp transmission from Thich Nhat Hanh and became a Zen teacher in 2007. She is also a teacher in the Vipassana Insight lineage through Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Her latest book, We Were Made for These Times: Ten lessons on Moving Through Change, Loss, and Disruption, was released in October 2021.
I hope you find it helpful, and you are welcome to join my free Wednesday Meditations – open to everyone!

Generosity itself is a beautiful practice that opens and gladdens the heart, relaxes the contraction of “self,” and ripples out into the world to touch many people – and perhaps, eventually, even oneself.
Additionally, many expressions of generosity are not about money. People offer attention, encouragement, and patience many times a day. Sometimes we withhold when it would be so easy, actually, to listen quietly for another minute or to offer a word of appreciation or simply a look that says, “I’m with you.” Try being a little more generous for a day and see what happens.
